FM5105: Fulling Mill Competition Heavyweight Black Nickel Barbless

Published: 29th March 2019 | Author: Eric Kelley

If I had to pick one hook model from our fly tying hook selection as my favorite, the FM5105 would be it. I was seriously anticipating the arrival of this in the States as I knew this model would be a big hit for anglers in the US. This hook is designed after the top-selling Fulling Mill hook in the UK, the FM1530 Competition Heavyweight where stillwater (or Loch) fishing is the top game.

About the FM5105: The Fulling Mill Competition Heavyweight Hook is the ultimate style of hook for competition angling. Featuring a solid straight shank with ample gape for tying all manner of fly patterns from blobs to boobies and nymphs or wet flies. Extremely popular in the U.K with some of the best competition anglers. Sproat, Down Eye, Standard Shank, 3XStrong. Black Nickel.

We’ve kept the 3x strong wire, extended the point and put a sleek black nickel finish on this barbless version. Let me tell you, this hook just oozes sexiness. Not only does this hook look nice, it ties and fishes exceptionally well. I personally have changed out all of my Daiichi 1550 and 1530s and replaced them with this. My favorite nymph to tie and fish on the FM5105? A standby that should be in every serious angler’s box – Sawyer’s Pheasant Tail Nymph. I’m talking about the real deal, dark copper wire and nice reddish-brown cock pheasant tail, that’s it. Do yourself a massive favor and treat yourself to these hooks, you’ll find yourself buying more.

This hook is available in 6 sizes across both the UK and USA stores.
