Matthew Cooper is a fly tyer from County Down, Northern Ireland, with a real love for traditional Irish flies and the history behind them. Matthew got into fly tying during a difficult period in his life, when his disability made it hard to get out fishing. Tying started as a way of keeping busy and keeping that connection with fishing, but it soon became a passion in its own right. He is a Kindale Pro Tyer and now ties at shows, including the renowned Irish Fly Fair. He also writes articles when the opportunity comes along. Matthew often shares his flies online through different platforms, including YouTube. Matthew doesn’t get to fish as much as he would like, but fly tying keeps him involved in the sport he loves. For him, there is always something new to learn, tie, or improve.
