Part two of the film is officially live on our YouTube channel! Part two of our Fly Fishing the Hebrides series, filmed by Patrick Tillard, follows Fulling Mill Ambassadors Lana Richardson and Colin Macleod as they chase sea trout on the fly. While part one of the Hebrides series focused on coastal rivers, sea pools, and inland lochs, part two highlights the saltwater fly fishing opportunities for sea trout and salmon.

Learn how to best fish the tides in the Hebrides for sea trout and what flies to find success with. Colin demonstrates how to tie his Rag Worm imitation and discusses his favorite salmon and sea trout patterns. Watch the real-time creation of the Kip Fly sand eel imitation—crafted with hair from Colin’s dog named Kip. Lana puts the Kip Fly to the test and finds approval from the sea trout.
Lana and Colin are avid anglers, clearly passionate about the waters they fish. The film captures the dual nature of fly fishing. At times, very serious. Other moments, centered on good company, shared laughter, and the joy of exploring the places the sport takes you.
Fly Fishing the Hebrides (Part 2): Sea Trout in Scotland
Fulling Mill Ambassadors Lana Richardson & Colin Macleod
Lana Richardson has been an Ambassador for Fulling Mill for several years now. Growing up next to a north highland spate river, learning how to fly fish was as natural as learning how to ride a bike for Lana. Lana primarily fishes in the highlands of Scotland for Atlantic salmon, brown trout, and sea trout, although if it can be caught with a fly, she will give any species and technique a go. Lana lives in the Scottish Highlands and works in the habitat conservation & land management sector. Alongside her main career, she also enjoys guiding and teaching beginners how to fish. Any time she isn’t at work, she is almost always found casting a line somewhere.

Colin MacLeod is from the Isle of Lewis in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides and masterfully blends his lifelong passions for fishing, music, and crofting. As a seasoned ghillie, Colin guides anglers through the island’s wild moors and salmon-rich rivers during the summer months, offering authentic Hebridean fishing experiences grounded in deep local knowledge. His profound connection to the land and sea not only shapes his guiding principles but also inspires his music. This balance between tradition and creativity embodies the best of Scottish life — and makes him an invaluable member of the Fulling Mill Pro Community.
