You asked, we delivered. Due to some design updates to Joe’s signature mouse fly, we have been holding this fly tying tutorial in our vault. But the time has come, and the world must learn more about this iconic mouse fly. Meet the Stunt Mouse from Signature Tyer Joe Goodspeed.
The Evolution of Joe Goodspeed’s Stunt Mouse Fly
Signature Tyer Joe Goodspeed first started development on his stunt mouse over 5 years ago. After fishing it for huge sea run brook trout, brown trout in New Zealand, and on countless night missions in the United States he dialed it in perfectly. After our initial launch of the pattern, he submitted a revised version. His best yet.

Joe’s original Stunt Mouse was pretty dialed, but version two is fine-tuned for angling success. Time on the water fishing the Stunt Mouse only leads to more tweaks and improvements at the vise. Joe’s Stunt Mouse 2.0 features a few updated materials and techniques, and modifications to proportions which ensure better hook-up ratios and castability.

About Joe Goodspeed
Joe Goodspeed has been working in the fly fishing industry since 2008. First, he was a fly line producer, and now he’s a fly rod developer. He’s responsible for designing some of the best euro nymphing rods available on the market today. Joe is an exceptional subsurface fly angler—whether that be nymphs or streamers—and has an incredibly analytical mind when it comes to fly design. Every single component of his flies is added with intention, and there’s nothing extra. Plus, he designs his flies to be durable so that you can catch fish after fish without them taking too much wear. Joe’s Mini Cray is one of his most well-known patterns, but he has several others that you absolutely should test out on the water, including the Stunt Mouse and ESP caddis.
