Covering The Detail
Every year we delight in bringing you the latest offerings from proven fly designers around the world. We pack them into our latest catalog for your enjoyment. The work that goes into this process—that of producing a physical fly library showcasing the finest flies and accessories—cannot be overestimated. In truth, it takes several highly talented people many weeks to get it right, but it’s worth it. Over the years we’ve tried to think up ways to make the cover a little bit better too. From humble beginnings we feel we’ve succeeded in this aim. This year, we genuinely could not be more proud of our cover. The 2021 Fulling Mill Catalog is one that embodies everything we stand for.
The Artist
To come up with the goods this year, we commissioned the highly talented and much respected, Emma Yardley. Her brief was simple enough, ‘Do your best!’ Whilst we set to work on filling the inside pages, Emma let her creative flare do the work. She described the undertaking as follows:
“This one came to my head quickly like a breath exhaled while watching the sun sink and the night sky erupt. The composition arrived when I was daydreaming on my way from Lander to Victor. Usually I have each component in my head but it takes weeks or days to puzzle them together but this one arrived together. I landed in a home full of light to draw these lines and dots in a home that always feels like a rest among the chaotic chapters and travel.
I was beautifully alone in a quiet town, with the chatter of Colorado winds away and the new vibrations of Bozeman still mountains ahead. I sat in an in-between, in a world where it was just me and this piece and time moved us both. It arrived to me fully for me so I arrived fully each time I sat to draw it. That’s bliss.

Not Just a Cover
We’ve wasted no time in putting this fantastic imagery to work. It now forms the background theme across both Fulling Mill websites. Importantly, it will form the foundations of many further projects we have planned throughout 2021! Make sure to keep an eye out.
