A big thank you to Fulling Mill for their generous sponsorship of our Anti Rhino Poaching Charity Flyfishing event, fished on Hiddendale the stunning private trout farm just outside of Dullstroom. 35 anglers had the choice of fishing 3 dams and several km’s of the Lunsklip River, using the Penny Black mystery fly, 54 fish hooked and surprisingly only 18 landed.

The winning fish was a 56 cm hen fish weighing 6 pounds, from Goose dam caught by Terance Trim. Terance has supported the event with his family since inception and has come second twice so we are thrilled he won an overseas fishing trip of his choice.
While we are still doing the final figures the auction alone raised R193 K (£8.5k) so an all-time record breaker for us! These funds are used to acquire gear the Special Operations anti-poaching unit based out of Skukuza in Kruger, last year it included webbing used by special forces and purchased directly from a supplier in the UK and the year before that handheld GPS’s and night vision goggles. We are looking forward to hooking up the lads with some cool kit again, to hopefully keep them one step ahead of the poachers!
