How to tie the Jingler Dry Fly

Published: 9th May 2019 | Author: Fulling Mill

The Jingler is a wonderful dry fly pattern that is perfectly suited for river fly fishing. In its many guises, it’s suited to target Large Dark Olives, Brook Dunns, March Browns, and even Mayfly!

Unlike many trout patterns, the scruffier the tying the better for the Jingler – not only does it float better the scruffier it is, but it looks ‘buggier’ and more attractive to the fish. Simply fish this fly dry fly style in fast to medium paise water, cast to and allowing the fly to drift over rising fish. You can also fish this fly as a wet fly fished down and across. Ensure to fish this fly on fairly strong leader as takes can often be explosive, our new Masterclass Copolymer in 5X would be the ideal strength/diameter.

Fly Tying Materials you’ll need for the Jingler

Hook: Fulling Mill Ultimate Dry Fly
Thread: Brown Uni 8/0
Tail: Coq De Leon
Body: Hare’s Ear Dubbing
Rib: Brown Thread
Hackle 1: Red Game Cock
Hackle 2: Partridge

If you don’t tie flies, you can also purchase Jinglers from our website.
