Small Stillwater Fishing
In this video, Howard walks us through his most used methods for small stillwater fly fishing. These are the three main tactics he employs if he doesn’t know a small stillwater and wants to enjoy his day of fishing. Or, if he wants to get an idea of how a stillwater will fish. As he’s often fishing completely new bodies of water in competitions, these are tactics that have proven themselves time and time again.
River Fishing
When it comes to nymphing for trout, few people have more experience than Howard Croston. Through his time on the English International Team, he’s traveled the world fishing for trout and grayling in rivers. As such, he’s refined his tactics, setup, approach and flies for nymphing rivers. In this video, Howard breaks down a run on a river in low water conditions on a hot and sunny summer day.
The Drop Back Bung
This video is full of tips for how to correctly fish with the Drop Back Bung. It includes details on what stillwater flies to use with it, and how to maximize your stillwater trout fishing opportunities with it. Not only will it detect a standard take from a trout, but it will detect a slow draw, when it’s been eaten on the drop and when a trout takes it and doesn’t move. It will even detect when a fish is swirling around the flies.
The Washing Line
In this video, Howard Croston explains his method for fishing the washing line and some of the new fly patterns he developed to improve the technique. If you want to up your catch rate on the stillwaters for trout, you won’t want to miss this.
